Education
Langton Green Primary, Tunbridge Wells
The project at Langton Green Primary School involved the construction of a new four classroom teaching Pavilion together with associated external works including ramped access pathways, hard and soft landscaping and the extension of the school car park
The construction of the Pavilion teaching block was carried out under a design and build contract, set in a sensitive rural area. The construction of the Pavilion used an advanced SIP frame build method, with a western cedar cladding facade. The cedar face was complimented by timber shake roof coverings.
The site was complex due to imposed strict tree root protection zones and a very restricted construction zone due. This was due to an additional perimeter reptile fence which was necessary to protect any newts that were inhabiting the school grounds. The newts were predominately found within the pond area immediately adjacent to the construction zone, adjacent to the site entrance. For this reason an underground newt crossing was formed across the site entrance prior to construction.
The project was carried out to a very tight timescale and budget
