Residential

Athelstan Rd, Faversham

This extension to a private Edwardian residence in Faversham involved remodelling of the rear half of the house to create an open plan kitchen / dining / living space. The extension features sliding folding doors that enable the side and rear of the building to be completely opened, creating a seamless relationship between the kitchen and the garden, which has a bright southerly facing aspect.

The polished concrete floor and patio are at the same level, providing a flush transition from internal to external space. The selection of facing stock brickwork coupled with zinc cladding complements the original building materials, whilst providing a contemporary aesthetic that acts as a counterpoint to the original house.

Relocation of the downstairs toilet from the end of the house to the centre has allowed for an open plan flow throughout, from front door to garden with a large sliding pocket door allowing for flexible separation of spaces when needed.
