The two storey extension to the existing sports hall at The Harvey Grammar School included the part demolition of the existing single storey changing rooms which were adjoined to the sports hall and run down.  The new accommodation comprised of a new sports gym to accompany the existing sports hall which was retained, associated changing rooms and offices, two new general teaching rooms, and a multi use studio.

Due to the existing topography of the site an extensive works were required to the external areas around the extension and a series of steps were created which also acted as informal seating for students.  This overcame the need for high retaining walls and helped reduce the impact of the development on its surroundings.

The scheme was a finalist in the 2018 LABC Awards for ‘Best Educational Building’.
