Shepherdswell – Planning Approval

This planning decision makes Shepherdswell and Coldred Community Land Trust the first CLT in Kent to gain planning consent – a great achievement!

OSG are delighted to announce that our scheme designed for the Shepherdswell and Coldred Community Land Trust and English Rural Housing Association for 13 new dwellings in the village of Shepherdswell has been granted planning consent.

This joint venture will deliver much needed affordable housing for the community.  This planning decision makes Shepherdswell and Coldred Community Land Trust the first CLT in Kent to gain planning consent.

Of the 13 dwellings, 10 will provide affordable housing to allow local people to stay in the village, with the remaining 3 dwellings provided as open market bungalows prioritized for local people.  The aim of the scheme is to encourage older people in the village to be able to downsize and help to keep younger families of low income in the area which will also help to secure the future of the village primary school.

Cllr Beaney told the planning committee:

The scheme has been well put together and it has so much affordable housing.

Below are some CGIs of how the development will look:

The site lies to the South of the Village Hall and will be accessed from a new junction with Coxhill Road which will be widened in this area and a new road created to serve the development. A new footpath from the site will also be added to make pedestrian access safer, whilst the development will also include additional visitors spaces allowing local residents to park off the main road.
