OSG was appointed to develop an initial concept for a new purpose-built padel centre in Ramsgate, responding to the sport's rapid growth across the UK, helping to transform an emerging leisure idea into a deliverable architectural scheme.
The client sought to create a high-quality destination that would not only provide modern competition standard sporting facilities but also encourage community engagement through a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Designed for a prominent roadside location with strong public transport links, the centre provides an accessible new sports facility for the local community. The scheme comprises four indoor padel courts together with two additional covered outdoor courts, all designed to international competition standards, enabling year-round play and the potential to host international events and tournaments. The court layout and dimensions were carefully considered to meet the technical requirements of the sport.
In addition to the courts, the facility incorporates a café, lounge and small retail area for padel equipment. These spaces were included in the design from the outset to create a destination that extends beyond sport, encouraging visitors to socialise, relax and engage with the wider padel community.
A key objective of the project was to create a facility that would bring people together through sport. By combining high-quality playing facilities with social and hospitality spaces, the facility provides an environment that encourages interaction both on and off the court.
The design supports the client's goal of establishing REWD Padel Thanet as a community-focused venue, creating opportunities for players, spectators and visitors to connect and creating a new hub for sport in the local area.
