Meet Our Newly Qualified Architect: Oana!

We are extremely proud to announce that Oana has officially become a fully qualified architect and has joined the ranks of RIBA architects at OSG.

Oana's journey has been marked by dedication and perseverance, spanning over seven years of hard work and passion.

Oana joined OSG as a Part 1 graduate. Balancing her part-time work at our practice with her studies at University of Kent, Oana completed her Part 2 Masters in Architecture and later earned her Part 3 Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Practice. Her commitment to both her education and her role at OSG has been commendable.

Oana's Part 2 Project

The project is for a site that is currently a car park on Herne Bay seafront. The brief was to address the high level of unemployment and lack of tourism negatively impacting the quality of life of people in Herne Bay and solve problems such as high circulation vehicle routes and lack of pedestrian routes and public open spaces stated in the Herne Bay Action Plan.

Oana’s scheme proposes developing the car park site into a harbour to include the ability to travel to London by ferry, a food market, artists workshops and a Water Research Centre with labs to test new ways of food production using hydroponics, researching water pollution and sea ecosystems.

The overall project philosophy refers to the way people interact with the sea and how this can help in the context of global warming and population growth by considering travelling by sea, researching the sea, growing food in the sea. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see a scheme like this become a reality in Herne Bay?

Now, as a fully qualified architect, Oana is taking on new challenges, including running projects and mentoring our Part 1 students. Her talent and dedication make her a valued member of our team.

When asked about how she felt on finally becoming an architect she had this to say:

"Being an Architect does feel extremely fulfilling, especially after spending almost eight years qualifying. I thank OSG for their support, patience and understanding throughout these years - especially during my Part 3!"

We couldn’t be prouder of Oana's achievements and look forward to supporting her continued growth and career at OSG. Congratulations, Oana!
