New Technical Project: Southfields, Eastbourne

OSG are part of the team delivering a new affordable housing development of 19 one and two bedroom apartments on a former car park site in Eastbourne.

The scheme, designed by Felce and Guy Partnership, will also have provision for three two bedroom wheelchair accessible apartments and will provide much needed, good quality, affordable accommodation on a brownfield site that is well positioned in close proximity to the town centre, transport links and employment.

The stepped design considers sightlines by reducing frontage and creating more interesting elevations and the height is in-keeping with existing development in the area.

The scheme is designed with a fabric first approach to sustainability, using a simple palette of materials that are robust and durable and suited to a marine environment. A green sedum roof and low-profile photovoltaic panels along with improved insulation and air tightness will ensure that the development has an improved energy performance and emission rate to those set by building regulations.

As a car-free development, there is large provision for cycle storage. There will also be provision for 2 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.
