Knockhall Children's Centre
|Project:||Development of a new children’s centre|
Kent County Council tendered 15 new Children’s Centres on a Design and Build procurement route and Neilcott Construction was the successful main contractor. The centres were based around a generic brief and tailored to suit individual site requirements. The accommodation generally comprised a crèche/meeting space, reception, admin office, medical/interview room, Kitchen, staff room and sanitary facilities. Externally each centre had a dedicated access and play area.
The commission from Neilcott was an interesting one, due to the limited delivery programme and the number of centres required. From there it was decided to use a Wernick modular system. The centres were constructed off site and then delivered once foundations and services were ready. As mentioned above, there were 15 centres in this particular tranche of work and they were successfully delivered on time and to budget.
