OSG Architecture were approached by a Mr and Mrs Henson who had purchased a small bungalow in Whitstable.
Although very happy with the location of the site, the clients wanted a building that better suited their needs in terms of aspect, siting, internal movement and aesthetics. They also wanted to incorporate modern materials into the building to make it energy efficient and to exceed the current standards required by building regulations.
We worked very closely with the client to develop the design and to realise their aspirations for the property. The finished scheme works well with the location and its position in relation to the coast. The design incorporates a room at first floor within the roof space incorporating feature glazing looking out towards the sea, and open-plan ground floor accommodation to reflect the client’s lifestyle. The design includes good use of natural lighting, which reduces the cost of artificial lighting within the development.
