FIVE ACRE WOOD SCHOOL, MAIDSTONE – HYDROTHERAPY POOL
|Client:||Five Acre Wood School|
|Team||Dan Town, Sam Hosken|
OSG Architecture have been commissioned by Five Acre Wood School to design a new hydrotherapy pool to replace the existing facility, which is in poor condition and not suitable for pupils’ needs.
The pool is for children and young adults with physical disabilities, who have individual hydrotherapy plans provided by a chartered physiotherapist.
The proposed building is a new ‘fit for purpose’ facility with changing and showering facilities and suitable space/circulation around an appropriately sized pool. The pool will be used by the school for curricular activities.
The pool has been designed for community use, so the new facility has independent, secure access separating it from the main school.
The proposal reflects the architectural theme of the redeveloped site, using render and vertical cladding in line with the current aesthetics. The intent is to minimise any visual impact by using a carefully selected material palette to complement the surrounding features.
